From One Volunteer to a Foundation Mission: Launching Snow Angels 2026

For our founder, Joe Orbovich, being a "Snow Angel" isn’t just a winter chore—it’s a decade-long commitment to community. Joe’s journey began over 10 years ago in Pittsburgh’s Elliott neighborhood, participating in an Allegheny County pilot program that matched able-bodied volunteers with seniors needing help clearing their walkways.

While the program eventually moved to city management, the spark of neighbors helping neighbors remained. Joe saw firsthand that while local municipalities like Scott Township (where he joined the program in 2024) do incredible work, the need for help often outpaces the number of available volunteers.

Bridging the Gap in 2026 

This year, The Orbovich Foundation is officially stepping in to expand these efforts. Our goal is to ensure no vulnerable resident is left stranded by the snow. By leveraging our deep roots within the Freemasons, Rotarians, and our personal networks of friends and family, we are building a dedicated volunteer force ready to respond when the flakes start falling.

Through this program, we aren't just clearing snow; we’re fostering connections between generations and teaching our youth the invaluable impact of service.

Ready to make a real difference right outside your door? We’re looking for volunteers to grab a shovel and help keep our community safe and accessible. No gear? No problem! Thanks to our generous donors, we have shovels and rock salt available to get you started.
